BOBBY HARTKOP PASSES AWAY ON JANUARY 14

Here's a note from Bobby's wife, Dennice:

"It is with crushing sadness that I let you all know Bobby passed away on Monday the 14th. For those he regularly communicated with, bantered with, debated with, you all made his life richer and I thank you for that.

"He absolutely loved playing with all of you. His competitive spirit was strong as you know and he always had something sassy to say. I think that's one of the reasons he so enjoyed the Lodi tournaments because that was certainly the place for all the good-natured banter."

Bobby joined WCFBA in 2004 and was a .375 hitter with 85 RBIs in nearly 400 at-bats.

THE VIGILANT BASTARDS ARE 2018 LEAGUE CHAMPS

The winners of the 2018 WCFBA League were the Vigilant Bastards, coached by Dave Vigil and Gary Hansen. They finished with a record of 10 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie, scoring 192 runs and allowing only 132 runs.

Members of the league champion team were Craig Alexander, Keith DaCosta, Jim Diamond, David Hansen, Gary Hansen, Richard Hansen, John Mohr, Guy Peabody, Robert Shanks, Elmer Studer and David Vigil.

In second place, only 1/2 game behind the winners, were the Crown Royals, coached by Tom Sanfilippo and Steve Jaurigui.

The team coached by Mike Miller and Matthew Schmuck came in third, with the Colonel's Crushers (coached by Jim Realini and Mark Cabot) close behind. Rounding out the standings was the Mike Mello and Jonathan Davis team, only 4.5 games behind the league champions.

Thank you to all who participated, including those who were pool players throughout the season.

Sign ups for 2019 will be announced in early spring.

The 2014 WCFBA League will commence play in March and will continue on close to a bi-weekly basis into October. Four to six teams will fill out the league.  In the past, A's and Giants teams operated separately, but beginning in 2010, the A’s and Giants players were combined into one league draft.  The concept of A's teams and Giants teams is no more and pool players will be assigned to the most appropriate team on a given week. Those who wish to play full-time should respond to an email request in early February.  A draft will take place in early March to pick the teams.  Part-time or 'pool' players should respond to the pool coordinator's request by Thursday at noon of a given play week to get on the priority list.
